The coconut is the fruit of the coconut palm tree (Cocos nucifera). It is cultivated in Indonesia, India, Philippines, Malaysia, Central America and tropical Africa. The main exported product is unprocessed copra, followed by desiccated coconut.
The coconut harvesting varies depending on the type of production, but it usually goes from January to July. If it is meant to be commercialized as fresh fruit or to be used in the water packaging industry, the harvest takes place when the coconut is between 5 and 7 months old. At this time, the glucose and water content is maximum and the flavor is more intense.
If intended for the production of shredded or dehydrated coconut, or copra for oil extraction, the harvest takes place when coconuts fall to the ground, or when one of the coconuts from the cluster is dry. These coconuts remain on the tree for 12 months.
Dried coconut is produced from coconut pulp. It is an entirely natural product to which no chemicals are added. To ensure the coconut’s naturalness and purity, our suppliers are permanently audited by the Sri Lanka Development Department, thus ensuring a finished product that meets the highest standards required by European and American markets.Dried coconut is supplied in 50, 25 and 12.5 kg multi-ply Kraft polyethylene-lined paper bags.
